For Michelle Corvino, photography stretches beyond an artform. It is a means of human connection, an ode to color and chaos –– a celebration of life itself.
This celebration is not a metaphor; the essence of vitality, of the delicate, tenuous thread that is life, is integral to their perspective as an artist. At a young age, Michelle was diagnosed with cancer. Very suddenly, mortality was thrust into their lap, and they catapulted into photography in search of answers to the mysteries strewn in front of them: answers about beauty, interiority, reciprocity, loneliness, and the emotional power within them all.
Even as they recovered, their dedication continued and grew into a passion for illuminating the visceral, the guttural, and the gorgeous. To interact with their work now is to enter that dreamy world of triumph and vulnerability, and find oneself entangled in a fragile intimacy between subject, viewer, and artist.
